Dodge Announces Special Edition Vipers

It's the 25th and final year for Dodge Viper production, and the brand is making sure its all-American supercar is going out in style-with six stylish special editions in ACR and GTC trims. Just be aware that if you want any of the 2017 Vipers, you'd better get to Route 46 Chrysler Dodge Jeep sooner rather than later: Those special models are quickly being snapped up by collectors, and when overall production ends, so does the brand's "1 of 1" personalization program.

In fact, the Dodge Viper 1:28 Edition ACR sold out its 28-car production run within 40 minutes of going on sale. It was a fittingly fast performance, since the 1:28 Edition honors one of quickest Vipers to ever take to the track. That would be the 2015 American Club Racer that professional driver Randy Probst piloted to a production-car lap record at the Laguna Seca Raceway. The time: 1:28.65. The 2017 special editions are distinguished by black exteriors, red ACR stripes, and an ACR interior with red accent stitching.

The 2017 Dodge Viper VooDoo II ACR wasn't quite so popular. That car took almost two hours to sell out all 31 units. Here, as you might have guessed from the vehicle's name, inspiration comes from the previous VooDoo special edition, from 2010. It will be the competition doing the cursing, however, once they see the taillights of the 2017 car. Among the highlights for the VooDoo II are its Graphite Metallic driver's side stripe, which is outlined in red, and its "VooDoo II" sill decals.

Both the Viper Snakeskin GTC (25 units) and the GTS-R Commemorative Edition ACR (100 units) were gone within two days. The former pays homage to the 2010 Snakeskin ACR, but with a fresh Snakeskin Green exterior finish and a custom-look SRT stripe that has a snakeskin pattern of its own. It's also worth noting that, based on the popularity of the first batch of final-edition Vipers, Dodge is bringing back the Snakeskin ACR as well for the 2017 model year, and building up to 31 of them.

As for the 2017 GTS-R, it was developed as a sequel to the 1998 GT2 Championship Edition, itself created to recognize the Viper's historic 1997 FIA GT2 road-racing title. All three wear what's become an iconic Viper livery, with Blue Pearl stripes across a White Pearl exterior.

Finally, Dodge built 25 Dealer Edition ACR models solely for the nation's top two Viper dealerships, and those-detailed with a Competition Blue center stripe and Adrenaline Red driver's stripe-disappeared within five days.

Those special editions also boast performance enhancers like carbon-ceramic brakes and Dodge's Extreme Aero package, as well as custom car covers, while all Vipers are fitted with a massive 8.4-liter V10 engine that can pump out 645 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque for an unforgettable driving experience.

Nor should you forget that the regular 2017 Viper lineup is still offered at Route 46 Chrysler Jeep Dodge. Although with the 16,000 color options, 24,000 stripe colors, 16 cabin themes, 11 available wheel designs and more than 50 million customization combinations in total, those cars could be even rarer.
